Legal & Vehicle Compliance Notice
Performance tuning, ECU software calibration, and vehicle modifications may affect roadworthiness, emissions output, noise levels, manufacturer warranties, and insurance validity.
Any products or services supplied that result in a vehicle no longer complying with DVSA roadworthiness requirements, MOT testing standards, emissions regulations, or UK road traffic laws are provided strictly for off-road and/or track use only.
Certain components and calibrations are intended for motorsport or off-road applications and are not type approved for use on public highways unless explicitly stated.
It is the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner or operator to ensure that their vehicle remains compliant with all applicable legal, insurance, and regulatory requirements when used on public roads, including disclosure of modifications to their insurer.
PPL Tuning does not certify or guarantee road legality, emissions compliance, or MOT pass status for modified vehicles.
Vehicle tuning, performance modifications, and the sale of motorsport or off-road components may affect a vehicle’s compliance with UK road traffic legislation, safety regulations, emissions standards, and insurance requirements.
Customers should be aware of the following key areas of legislation and regulation:
This Act governs the legal use of motor vehicles on public roads in the United Kingdom. Certain vehicle modifications may affect a vehicle’s roadworthiness, safety, or legality when used on public highways.
These regulations set out requirements relating to vehicle construction, exhaust systems, emissions control equipment, noise output, and general vehicle condition. Modifications to exhaust systems, emissions components, or engine calibration may result in non-compliance with these regulations.
Modified vehicles may be subject to MOT failure if they do not meet current testing standards relating to emissions output, exhaust noise, warning lights, or visible vehicle modifications. Passing a previous MOT does not guarantee future compliance following modification.
Certain modifications may affect a vehicle’s emissions performance or invalidate its original type approval status for road use. Vehicles modified beyond factory specification may no longer meet emissions or approval standards required for use on public roads.
Vehicle owners are legally required to disclose all modifications to their insurer. Failure to declare performance or hardware modifications may invalidate insurance cover. Responsibility for insurance compliance rests solely with the vehicle owner.
Products supplied or installed for a clearly stated purpose—such as track use or off-road use only—are sold in accordance with that intended purpose. Customers are responsible for ensuring suitability and legal compliance based on their intended use.
Any tuning services, software calibrations, or hardware products supplied that result in a vehicle no longer complying with applicable UK road traffic legislation are intended for off-road and/or track use only.
Responsibility for ensuring legal compliance, roadworthiness, emissions conformity, and insurance disclosure rests solely with the vehicle owner or operator.
