The C63 507 ‘Weistec’ Edition

Weistech Upgraded engine bay of the Edition 507 C63 W204

why would you need a supercharger?

Many may wonder ‘why supercharge an NA?’. The answer is simple. When you crave high power with tuning, you send it to space with aspiration.

The go-to aspiration in this project was non-other than the Weistec Stage 3 M156 Supercharger.

The W204 engine as we all know is Naturally Aspirated, meaning no turbo or supercharger of any form has been installed out of the factory. What this means for the tuning capabilities is that you only face minimal gains as compared to those with added induction.

The Manifold of the Weistec Supercharger

SO WHERE DOES THE WEISTEC COME INTO PLAY?

When it comes to it, the Aftermarket platform for the W204 namely offers the Weistec Supercharger. It is the most ideal for the M156 motor that comes with the 507 for a number of reasons.

The main reason is for its durability and boost in tuning capabilities that is attached to it.

For example, the NA W204 on Stage 2 compared to the Bi-Turbo W205 (2020) C63 gains are much :

W204: 530 BHP (+23 Hp) w/ 660Nm Torque (+40Nm)

W205: 590BHP (+80 HP) w/ 840Nm Torque (+140).

With the Weistec, you are provided with: Twin-Screw Supercharger, Upgraded Pulley, High Capacity Fuel Rails and High Capacity Fuel Injectors. With it, an additional 280 BPH increase when tuned.

+200Nm Torque

With this particular 507 Edition, we equipped it with a the PPL Stage 2 Package which involved upgraded downpipes and the weistec tune which took it to 705BHP with 800Nm of Torque. We also installed the Innotech Performance full titanium exhaust.

you may ask yourself why supercharge as to turbo?

Firstly, most companies in the industry are not mad enough to toy with the production of turbochargers for a number of reasons for the W204

The main reason this could relate to can be seen when we look at the ability to put the power down. When you compare the HP/Torque Curves of the Turbo and Supercharger on an engine as aggressive as this, it is a no-brainer to go for the supercharger. With a turbo install, you are looking at a much more aggressive application of power and torque at one point in the revs as compared to the gradual application that the charger would apply.

Therefore, when you look at the power graph, you’ll see a much harder application in the turbo boost than the gradual increase in the twin screw supercharger (as evident on the graph). With the M156 – it is less than ideal for running turbo as though it may spin its tyres on stock, the turbo kick will make the car near undrivable for most. When it comes to the supercharger, it retains the power delivery the original NA would carry but still produce more power even though the W204 C63 is a monster to tyres and tarmac regardless.
