How a decat or sports-cat downpipe unlocks flow, sharpens response and complements a remap — and what to consider before fitting one.
The downpipe is one of the biggest restrictions in a modern turbocharged exhaust. Replacing the factory catalytic converter with a decat or high-flow sports cat frees up exhaust flow, spools the turbo faster and unlocks the full benefit of a supporting remap.
The gains are most noticeable paired with tuning — which is why downpipes feature in our Stage 2 packages. Fitted correctly with the right file, you'll feel sharper throttle response and a stronger, more urgent mid-range.
